Animal Welfare Commitment & Wool Standards

Goodhew, LLC (Sockwell) is committed to sourcing all of our wool from responsible parties who are concerned for the welfare of the sheep that provide our wool fiber. We have chosen to source our wool from American farmers who are committed to raising their sheep under the principles of the Five Freedoms.

The choice of using American grown wool has several additional advantages. American breeds of merino sheep anatomically do not have wrinkled rear ends and as such there is never a need for mulesing. Additionally, the environmental benefits of local sourcing in terms of reducing the carbon footprint associated with securing the wool fiber are significant.

We care about the animals that provide the wool fiber we use in our socks and look to their well-being, and we have designed our supply chain to limit the environmental impact of our business in all aspects of the manufacture of our products.
