Why I Wear Sockwell as a Pharmacist

Why I Wear Sockwell as a Pharmacist

Diana D. spends long hours on her feet as a pharmacist. Some 14 years ago, she discovered Sockwell and made our compression styles a prescribed part of her day. In honor of National Pharmacist Week, we asked Diana to share her story.

My love for Sockwell began in 2012, shortly after I moved to Chattanooga, Tennessee. I found a healthcare uniform shop that carried Sockwell compression socks. I bought three pairs, and I’ve been a fan ever since!

As a retail pharmacy manager, I spend 10 hours a day standing on hard concrete floors, often four to five days a week. My feet and legs put in just as much work as I do! I also have POTS, a condition that affects my body’s ability to regulate my heart rate. Compression socks are an important part of how I manage my symptoms, and comfort is essential for such long shifts.

Do you notice a difference wearing Sockwell?

Absolutely! When you’re on your feet this much, you need socks that are comfortable, supportive, and made to last. Sockwell has been a part of my daily routine for years. I love that the cushioning holds up even after repeated washing and years of wear.

They’re not just something I put on before work. They’re part of how I prepare for a long day of taking care of other people while also taking care of myself.

How does graduated compression help with your POTS symptoms?

Living with POTS means paying attention to the little things that help me get through the day. My body doesn’t regulate my heart rate the way it should, so compression is one of the tools I use to help manage my symptoms. Wearing Sockwell compression socks is part of my daily routine, particularly on those long days at the pharmacy.

I appreciate having a product that fits into my life so comfortably and helps support me while I’m busy caring for my patients and leading my team.

Do you recommend Sockwell to your pharmacy customers? If so, why?

Yes! I recommend Sockwell because I believe in recommending products I have personally used and trust. I’ve worn other compression sock brands over the years, but I keep coming back to Sockwell.

The comfort, durability, cushioning, and variety of styles make them stand out to me. When I recommend something to a patient, I want to be able to speak from personal experience, and with Sockwell, I can.

Another reason I feel good about recommending Sockwell is knowing where and how they are made. Sockwell socks are proudly made in the USA, using merino wool sourced from American sheep farmers who follow the Five Freedoms of Animal Welfare. I love knowing that the wool is sourced responsibly and that Sockwell is thoughtful about the resources used to turn that wool into the socks we wear. Their wool-processing and dyeing methods are designed to be more mindful of water usage and environmental impact.

For me, that makes the Sockwell story about more than compression. It’s about quality, comfort, American craftsmanship, caring for the animals that provide the wool, and being thoughtful about the planet—all things I genuinely value in a product I use and recommend.

And as someone who lives and works in Chattanooga, knowing that Sockwell is headquartered here and that its socks are made in American mills makes that connection even more meaningful to me.

What are your favorite styles to wear?

I’m a big fan of the whimsical designs! I love that Sockwell makes compression socks fun and gives people the opportunity to express their personalities. Of course, their professional styles are just as cute, and there’s something for everyone.

I spend so much time on my feet at work that comfort and quality are necessities, but being able to choose colors and patterns I love is an added bonus. Why shouldn’t something that supports your well-being also make you smile?

After all these years, Sockwell continues to be a brand I reach for, recommend, and genuinely enjoy wearing.
